Platform Engineer who builds Internal Developer Platforms, using infrastructure-as-code to turn manual provisioning into governed self-service. Launchpad (my own multi-cloud IDP product, built on Crossplane, Backstage and ArgoCD) and Procter & Gamble's global self-service platform for ~1,300 development teams are the clearest examples. My other engagements are broader: hands-on work across Azure, Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD pipelines, which gave me the operational range a platform needs in production.

Building an Internal Developer Platform

Azure focused but written for multi-cloud

  • Built a self-service, cloud-agnostic provisioning layer that cut environment provisioning from a multi-day ticket process to a single golden-path request (~9 min time-to-prod). Try it live
  • Designed the packaging and licensing model around Crossplane Configuration packages (OCI/ACR): an 18-module Foundation catalog plus modular Expansion add-ons. Entitlement is enforced with private registry repos and per-customer pull tokens.
  • Built the control plane on Crossplane v2: 24+ composite resource definitions over the Upbound Azure provider family, covering ~25 resource types (AKS, PostgreSQL, Key Vault, storage, networking, App Service).
  • Set up the developer experience on Backstage and ArgoCD GitOps. A portal request scaffolds a Crossplane resource and ArgoCD reconciles it into Azure. Every change goes through a reviewed, auditable git PR.
  • Designing an MCP server as a second, AI-native front door onto the same platform capabilities. An agent passes validated, schema-constrained parameters into an existing capability and never writes infrastructure code itself. Every AI-initiated request still lands as a PR a human reviews.

    • Split my time between delivery on enterprise client engagements (roles below) and building Launchpad, my own Internal Developer Platform product, end to end (see Launchpad above).

    Utrecht, The Netherlands

    • Acting as the de facto DevOps engineer across two teams, introducing CI/CD and GitOps ways of working alongside developers and architects to cut release friction.
    • Leading a feasibility study for a self-service OpenShift provisioning platform, while deploying and migrating live applications onto the platform.
    • Moved a legacy zip-based installation protocol to containerized Helm-chart deployments via ArgoCD, and migrated Ansible playbook workflows to ArgoCD plus managed k8s config. A manual multi-step install is now one GitOps rollout.
    • Leading the redesign of ArgoCD/OpenShift best practices to reduce blast radius, splitting workloads per environment out of a shared namespace with App of Apps and ApplicationSets.

    Amstelveen, The Netherlands

    • Trained development teams in hands-on hackathons as part of the DevOps Enablement team, which sped up onboarding of new teams onto Azure.
    • Wrote Terraform modules for Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server with Entra ID authentication, workload identity integration, HA and private networking. They became the standard onboarding pattern.
    • Researched Crossplane as an alternative to Terraform and Bicep and built a proof of concept on OpenShift using ArgoCD. It informed the organization's platform tooling direction.
    • Built Python automation for API management (YAML processing, dynamic JSON, Git change detection, WSO2 deployment) integrated into Azure Pipelines, and extended Bicep templates for the PostgreSQL onboarding pattern.

    Amsterdam, The Netherlands

    • Advised teams across the organization on adopting the Azure Guardrails compliance policy. Wrote Terraform modules for standardized provisioning (per-team Git repositories, template pipelines and tfstate backends) that multiple teams reused.
    • Migrated Azure resources from legacy subscriptions to new, compliant subscriptions with no reported service disruption.

  • OpenShift Platform Engineer (Blue Stack) · Rijkswaterstaat

    Apr 2024 – Jul 2024

    Rotterdam, The Netherlands

    • Maintained and troubleshot the OpenShift cluster and NGINX Ingress routing, including URL path-based routing for new web pages, which improved platform stability for production releases.
    • Built and maintained GitLab pipelines for new user stories, including service deployments via Harbor and Helm. Advised developers on platform issues and releases.
    • Managed MinIO and AWS S3 buckets, including data migration for self-hosted tools like Mattermost.
    • Used Grafana and Prometheus for alerting and monitoring; troubleshot containerized PostgreSQL databases.

  • IT Manager - Azure Internal Developer Platform · Procter & Gamble

    Warsaw, Poland

    • Led the team on an Angular-based internal developer portal (Backstage equivalent) behind P&G's global self-service platform for ~1300 dev teams, which automated Azure provisioning through Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub and Azure DevOps.
    • Led development of a next-generation platform while maintaining the first one, without disrupting existing self-service users.
    • Wrote blueprint Terraform modules on top of ~100 existing modules, which simplified provisioning and cut onboarding time for new teams.
    • Provided L3/Admin support across the full stack and introduced fail-fast practices (e.g. Python Selenium regression automation), which shortened incident recovery time.
    • Managed senior stakeholders and vendors across several countries and departments, and mentored junior engineers.

    • Administered the OpenShift platform. Built GitLab CI/CD pipelines to onboard new projects, automated Kubernetes deployments via Helm and managed the image registry via Harbor.
    • Rightsized multi-node clusters for a governmental body, which improved resource utilization and reduced billing.
    • Ran an in-house Azure FinOps initiative: Bicep-based budget alerts, Policy-as-Code and PowerShell automation, deployed via GitHub Actions. It curbed recurring subscription budget overruns.
